Simple primitive style rifle knife,
no guard plate, one iron pin, 9-3/4” blade forged from a large file, retains
some texture of the original file, very sharp, snug copper riveted sheath with
simple geometric tooling. SOLD

Trade knives, 4” –6” blades,
figured maple handles, the two with thong holes are full tang construction, and
the other two are half tang with German silver pins. In keeping with the
feeling of the originals these are fairly thin, but still substantial with full
flat grinds and tapers. The two sheaths shown are typical of those furnished
and cover half or more of the handles.
The original 18th century trade knives tended to be very thin
and inexpensive, and had red vermilion painted handles. We prefer the pretty wood. $89.00-$125.00
plus S & H.

(Please see
uppermost knife by itself on previous page.) Bottom two
camp knives, heavy blades 6-3/4 “ and 8” long, maple handles, steel ferrules,
patinated finish. These two knives are
furnished with a molded pouch type sheath that encloses part of the
handle. No two sheaths are alike and
will vary in detail, some having copper rivets, some sewn belt loops, some
riveted, etc., All sewing is double
needle saddle stitching using five cord waxed lined. All sheathes are either welted or riveted to provide protection
against cutting stitches. Forged carbon steel, flat ground. Like the trade knives, I try to keep a few
of these on hand. $125-$150.
